Whipped Brie

Brie is a fantastic cheese to whip because it’s just so unexpected. It already has a wonderfully creamy texture, but whipping it turns it into something luscious and melt-in-your-mouth. It’s incredible paired with sweet fruits and jams, making it a fantastic choice for a charcuterie board. Add a glass of wine, and it’s simply divine.

You don’t need to use an expensive cheese to make whipped brie; just pick up whatever you find (bonus if it’s on sale)! It’s the perfect anchor to a sophisticated charcuterie spread – you won’t regret trying it!

Ingredients for Whipped Brie

There’s quite a long list for this recipe, but don’t be intimidated, it’s quite simple to make. Here’s the list of what you’ll need:

  • Brie cheese

Okay, I thought it was funny, hopefully you do, too! 🤣 It’s funny because it’s true: you only need a few wheels of brie and nothing else. I do like to drizzle mine with a little honey since it pairs so well and it makes for a better presentation, but it’s not crucial.

You can also add any number of toppings. Diced, fresh fruits, nuts, or fresh herbs are all great choices. Sometimes simple really is best, though, so feel free to serve it as-is and let your guests choose their own flavor combinations

Equipment Needed

A stand mixer is best for whipping creamy, fluffy brie. A hand mixer will also do the trick, but since it takes about 10 minutes for the brie to reach the perfect consistency, you’ll need to be hands-on for that entire time. It goes quickly though, and you’ll need to be scraping the sides down every few minutes anyway.

Make sure to have a spatula ready to scrape the sides of the bowl throughout the process, and have a pretty dish or board ready for serving.

How to Make Whipped Brie

The first thing you’ll need to do is remove the rind from the brie. A sharp paring knife works best for this. Try to leave as much of the cheese as possible, but if you do end up cutting some off, just scrape it off the rind and add it back in.

Once the rind has been completely removed, place the brie in the bowl of a stand mixer. Let it sit for about 30 minutes to come to room temperature. Using the paddle attachment, “whip” the brie on medium speed for about 10 minutes until it’s a bit lighter in color and looks “fluffy.” Stop the mixer every few minutes to scrape down the sides of the bowl.

All that’s left is to put it in or on whatever you’ve decided to use for serving! A shallow bowl works really well, or you can spread it out over a food-safe board in a thin layer.

Storing and Making Ahead

You can whip the brie up to three days ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator. When you’re ready to serve, allow it to come to room temperature for about 30 minutes beforehand.

  1. I will be serving this Sunday. I’ve never heard of it but it sounds like fun. I’m planning on serving olive tapenade and hummus so this will fit right in. Should be the star!
